In this tutorial I`ll show you how to create a hot Iphone scene in Photoshop,using some stock images and brush sets.

Along the way,I`ll use different techniques like selections,masking and painting and a few little tricks to make this project more interesting and spectacular.

What are we making

For this tutorial we`ll need a couple of things,images and brush sets.You may download them from the list below,or if you have another ones greater than those,use them.

Materials needed:

Iphone image

Grass image

Floral deco brush set by ro-stock

Orange flower by Go-4-it

Pink flower #1 by sourcow

Pink flower #2 by adaae

Gerbera flower

Grass brush set

Butterfly

Air balloon

Clouds brush set by Javier

First step:Setting up the workspace

Open Photoshop and create a new page of 1024×680px.

Step 2:Add a gradient background

Add a gradient background to the first layer with the next settings:

The image has a nice blue background now.

Step 3:Add the Iphone

Now, download the Iphone picture and with the Pen Tool create the selection of the phone.

Add the Iphone to the project.If the image is too big,resize it by pressing Ctrl+T or Edit-Transform->Scale.To resize it more accurate,hold Shift Key while you make it smaller.

Step 4:Add the grass

Download the Grass image and open it into Photoshop.

Resize the image and make sure that the grass layer is under the Iphone layer.This way,the Iphone will stay on the grass.

Step 5:Masking the grass

As you can see,the grass image has hard corners.We`re gonna try to make them softer and rounded.So,select the grass layer and press the layer mask button situated at the base of the layers area.Now press the layer mask thumbnail to select it.

Choose an Airbrush Soft Round and start masking the corners.

Don`t forget to set the foreground color to black,so you can add the mask with 100% damage.If you`ll choose another color instead,there will be traces of grass all over the mask,and we don`t want this.

Finish the mask and try to get rid of those ugly corners as much as you can.Don`t be afraid because we`ll add in the future some extra grass using a brush set.

Step 6:Paint some flowers

Download the Floral Deco brushes and select the brush nr. 22 from the list.

After you place one flower on a side,duplicate the layer,flip it horizontal(Edit->Transform->Flip Horizontal) and put it on the other side.

Select the Erase tool(E) and delete the long leaves of the flowers.This is an optional step.You may delete them or not,but I decided to erase them.

Now select the brush nr. 24 and add some pink flowers like above.Be sure that the flower layers are under the iphone.

Step 7: Add some flowers

Download the flowers (orange flower,pink flower1,pink flower2,gerbera flower) and with the Pen tool(P),select them and add them to the main project.Now,be sure to add the flowers layers above the Iphone.

Step 8 ainting some grass

Next,download the Grass brushes and paint over the grass picture.Change the color between different types of green to obtain a better result.Put the grass layer under the Iphone but above the grass.

Step 9

We`re going to add some scatered lines all around the Iphone.First,set up the brush tool,with the next settings:

Select the pen tool and create a path around the Iphone.Then right click and choose Stroke Path.Choose Brush and hit Simulate pressure.

It will appear a scattered line around the Iphone.Duplicate the layer 3 or 4 times to make the line more visible.For each duplicated layer,change the color to pink or white,or red, and move them a little bit to give the impression of movement.

Step 10: Add 2 more elements

Next we`ll add a butterfly and an air balloon.So,download those two images from the top-list,select them with the Pen Tool(P) and add them into the project,resizing them adequate.

Step 11: Clouds

Next step is to add some clouds on the background to make it look nicer.So,download the Cloud brushes and paint with a white color some clouds.

Today I`ll speak about layer masks and I`ll show you how to create a black and white picture with some colored areas and how to merge two pictures,using layer masks.

In Photoshop,a Layer Mask is the best way to hide and reveal certain parts of a layer.

To add a Mask to a layer,first you must select the respective layer and then click on the Mask button.You may find the button in the bottom area of the layer`s section.

You`ll notice that in the right side of the layer will appear a thumbnail.

To start using the layer mask,click on the layer mask thumbnail and start hiding and revealing layers.

Next,I`ll present you some examples of using layer masks.You`ll see that those masks will become a must have in your next Photoshop projects.

Create a black and white picture with colored areas

In the first example I`ll show you how to create a black and white picture.After,I`ll reveal some colored areas from the initial image.

First step,download this flowers arrangement photo to get started.After you download it,load the image into Photoshop.

Next,we`re going to make the picture a black and white one.Go to Layer->New Adjustment Layer->Hue/Saturation and apply the next settings:

To make the image more lighter,go to Layer->new Adjustment Layer->Brightness/Contrast and change the brightness and contrast of the image.

Now we have a back and white image:

Let`s reveal a little color.Click on the layer mask thumbnail of the Hue/Saturation layer.The reason is simple.The layer mask hides the initial picture by painting over the black and white effect.So,to reveal the colors,we must delete the respective areas of the mask.

Now,with the Hue/Saturation layer mask selected,choose a Soft brush and start revealing the colored areas.

Start painting with the brush tool where you want to color.

The image is ready:

How to merge two pictures

In this example,I`ll show you how to merge two images. One of the tasks that you find yourself doing in Photoshop is cutting stuff out, putting them somewhere they don’t belong and making them fit in.I`ll show you a way to do this,using a layer mask. We`re going to add a sailing boat on a tropical sea.

Download those two pictures:The sailing boat and tropical sea.

Load them into Photoshop.

Now I`m showing you how to paste the boat picture over the tropical sea.When you load a picture into Photoshop,you notice that the first layer,named Background is locked and it can`t be edited.To make it editable,double click the Background layer.

The layer has been transformed into a editable layer,named Layer0.

To select the layer,Ctrl+Click it.Copy the selection and paste it over the tropical sea picture.

Next step is to add a layer mask to the boat layer.Click on the layer mask button to add one.

Now click on the layer mask thumbnail to select it.

In other words,to use correctly the layer mask,select the foreground color to black.This way,you`ll delete the entire areas around the boat.Otherwise,you`ll have traces of colors from the image.

Choose an Airbrush round and start painting the boat image.You`ll observe how the tropical sea is revealed.If you want to zoom the image to work more accurate,press Ctrl+ “+” .

After you`ll finish the paint job,you`ll have a boat on a tropical sea.But only a few will realize that there are two images in one.For the rest this is a real image.

In this tutorial I`ll show you how to create an unreal underwater scene using Photoshop.

Along the way,we`ll use some brush sets,blending techniques,layer masks,filters and some elements like fishes or birds.

This is how the final image looks:

Materials needed:

Underwater image

VW beetle

Baloons

Fishes

Underwater vegetation brush

Bubbles brush

Parrot

Butterfly

Sea star

Step 1:Loading the background

Open Photoshop and load the underwater image.

Step 2:Make the image more colourful

Duplicate the image layer 2 times and set the blending mode for the first duplicated layer to Soft light and for the second to Overlay.

Select the last layer and go to Filter->Blur->Radial blur and apply the next settings:

Now we have a nice image more colored and with a motion effect.

Step 3:Insert the car image

Load the image into Photoshop and with the Pen Tool(P) make the selection of the car like in the picture:

Cut the selection and paste it into the main project.

For the car layer,create a Layer mask(Layer->Layer Mask->Reveal All) and with a soft brush erase a little bit the bottom of the wheels to create a sink in the sand effect.

Step 4:Adding a shine effect

Go to Layer->Layer Style->Blending Options and give the car an Outer glow effect with the settings:

The image should look like this:

Step 5:Adding underwater plants

Download the Underwater plants brushes from the top list and start creating vegetation along the image margins.

Step 6:Adding fishes

Download the psd fishes and move them into the main image resizing them to have small and real fishes.

Step 7:Placing the fishes

Place the fishes to create the impression that they`re hiding into the plants.

Step 8:Creating the parrot path

Download the parrot image and using the Pen Tool(P) create the path of the bird.

Step 9:Inserting the parrot into the main image

With the selection of the parrot made,cut it and paste it into the main project.

Place the layer under the plants layer and if you didn`t make the parrot path perfect,create a layer mask and delete the white areas around the bird.

Step 9:Delete the stick on which parrot stays

Using the Clone Stamp tool(S) try to make the stick disappear.Then with the Erase Tool(E) delete the plants from the bird`s claws to create the effect of sitting on the plants.

Step 10:Adding the Sea star

Download the Sea star image and with the Pen Tool(P) Create the path of the image.

Step 11:Warping the star

Paste the image into the main project,resize it and go to Edit->Transform->Warp and warp the star to make it as it floats on the water.

Step 12:Adding an outer glow effect

Double click on the sea star layer and apply a glow effect to make it more lighter.The main image looks now almost as an underwater scene.

Step 13:Adding the balloons

Download the balloons image and with the Pen Tool(P) make a selection around them.

Add them to the main image and place them in the right of the rear mirror.

Duplicate the balloons layer and change the Hue/Saturation to create different colored balloons.Rotate them and place them like in the image:

Add an outer glow effect for the balloons to make them shine.

Step 14:Bubbles

With the bubbles brushes just downloaded from the beginning of the tutorial,create some bubbles of different sizes.

Step 15:The butterfly

Download the butterfly image,make the selection using the Pen Tool(P) and add it into the big bubble.

Then add an Outer glow and inner glow effect to make it shine.

The image looks quite finished but I`ll add a gradient over the entire image to make it more colored.I`ll use a blue gradient to create an underwater effect.

Step 16:The Gradient

Go to Layer->New Fill layer->Gradient and apply the next settings:

Set the blending mode for the gradient layer to Overlay and Fill it up only with 40-50% of the color.

Final Result

In this tutorial I`m gonna show you how to create an amazing Dark Knight wallpaper in Photoshop.This is a simple tutorial from where you`ll learn how to blend very easily two images.

What are we making:

Let`s get started…

For this tutorial i used a couple of images,so first step is to download the photos:

The Dark Knight

City

Clouds

Load the City image into your Photoshop

Duplicate the layer and apply the following Gaussian blur:

We can give this photo a blue gradient effect. Go to Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Gradient Fill, apply the following gradient settings(the colors are from left to right:#000a18,#010713,#0f2231,#192b39,#2c4154,#476774,#c7ddea) and change the blending mode for the gradient layer to Soft light:

Then change the color a little bit by adding the next settings:

Hue/Saturation(Layer->New Adjustments layer->Hue/Saturation):

Color Balance(Layer->New Adjustments layer->Color Balance):

Brightness/Contrast(Layer->New Adjustments layer->Brightness/Contrast):

Our image should look like this:

Next step is adding some clouds and make them to look a little foggy

Load the “Clouds” image into Photoshop select the clouds from the image and add them into the project:

Position the clouds like in the image:

For the clouds layer,make them a mask(Layer->Layer Mask->Reveal All) and using the Airbrush soft round,make the margins of the clouds to look smoother:

Now,lowing the opacity of the brush,make the clouds to look like fog,like in the next image:

Let`s giving the clouds a blue color:

Go to Layer->New Adjustments layer->Color Balance and apply the next settings:

Then go to Layer->New Adjustments layer->Brightness/Contrast and apply the next settings as well:

Merge those layers(clouds layer,color balance layer and brightness/constrast layer) and our image should look like this:

To make the clouds to look more blue coloured,duplicate the new clouds layer and set the blending mode for the new layer to Soft light.This is the result:

Let`s add a moon in the top-left corner.I`ve found some moon brushes on the internet and used one of them in my project,but you may use what moon you like.

Now,insert “The batman” photo into the picture.Using the Pen tool,make the selection of the batman and place him like in the picture:

Now let`s add more fog on our picture.I`ve found some Fog brushes on the internet and used one of them to fill the clear space from the bottom of the image.

Finally,you can add some bats using some bats brushes.This is how our final image looks:

What are we making:

I`ve found two great images on the internet.One with a castle and other with a great waterfall:

The second picture:

Let`s begin.Open your Photoshop and drag the two pictures in Photoshop.As you can see the castle is a bit too large.

Resize the castle to have the width equal to the width of the waterfall and place the waterfall above the castle like in the picture:

Now duplicate the castle layer and set the blending mode for the new layer to Soft light then merge the two layers.

Duplicate the waterfall layer and set the blending mode for the new layer to Soft light too.

Your layers should look like this:

And you`re image like this one:

We`ve made those steps with the duplicated thing to make the layers to look the same.You can observe that the the waterfall looks a little bit darker.

Let`s make some areas of the waterfall to look a little bit lighty.

Select the Soft light waterfall layer and make a new layer mask.

Now set the foreground color to black and with the Soft round brush erase the darker areas of the waterfall.I`ve marked in the picture the areas where i used the brush.You can make of course your own version.You are free to do this.I`m just explaining what to do.

Using the Pen tool(P) make the selection of the mountains and delete them,because we are going to put there some clouds for effect.But again I repeat:It is optional.You may do your own manipulation in your own style.

Let`s adjust a little bit the colors.Go to Layer->New Adjustment Layer and apply the next settings:

Levels:

Hue/Saturation

Now our image should look like this one:

Now comes the magic:making the images to look like one.

What we have to do is to make a layer mask to the first waterfall layer and using the Soft round brush erase the middle area from the image.It`s a more complicated procedure which can be succeeded if you practice on the image.Use your imagination.

This is how my image looks:

Now,let`s create the clouds.I`ve found a cloudy image on the internet perfect for our project.

Using the Pen tool(P) cut the clouds and paste them in our image.

Make a layer mask for the clouds layer and using the Soft Round brushes,make their margins smoother,to look real.Is the same process we used when we merged the two images,one step backward.

We see now that the sky is incomplete.To fill it with clouds,duplicate the clouds layer,flip it horizontal to look different than the other layer(Edit->Transform->Flip Horizontally),make a new layer mask and apply the same treatment using the Soft brush.

My sky looks like this:

Now we`re going to create some nice sunshines.

Using the rectangle tool(U) draw a white rectangle with a big height.Then go to Filter->Render->Fibers and apply the next settings:

Go to Filter->Blur->Motion blur this time and put the next parameters:

Now go to Edit->Transform->Perspective and create a perspective like in the next image.Click on the top-left corner of the rectangle and pressing the Shift Key drag to the right.Repeat the process for the bottom-left corner but drag to the left.

Set the blending mode for this layer to Soft light.Now you have your nice sunshines.

I`ve made my image a little bit more darker,applying the next adjustment(Layer->New Adjustment Layer->Brightness/Contrast):

This is how the image looks:

I`ve searched on the internet for some gradients for the last effect and I`ve found them here.

I`ve used a blue one and changed the blending mode of the layer to Soft light.

We`ve just finished our great tutorial and this is the result:

Open your Photoshop and make a new document.Mine is 1000×900pixels but you may choose any dimensions you want.

The next step is adding an angel.I find this angel on Google.

Using the Pen tool,cut out the angel from the background and paste it into your file.

You can see that our image has sharpen margins.To smooth them,click on the image layer and add a layer mask(Layer->Layer Mask->Reveal all).Set the foreground color to black and using the Airbrush Soft Round brush,make the margins a little bit smoother.

Now our image should look like this:

To make it more colourful duplicate the layer and set the blending mode for this new layer to Soft light.

Let`s make some clouds.I`ve found some nice clouds on DeviantArt.My opinion is that if you want some nice stuff like brushes or pictures,DeviantArt is the best solution.

Place the clouds on your picture until you get the best result.

My picture looks like this:

We`re gonna make now a divine light coming from the sky.Select the first layer(the locked one) and go to Filter->Render->Lightning Effects and apply the next settings:

We`ve just obtained the final result.Now,our image is ready and looks like this:

In this tutorial,I`ll show you the steps I took to create an amazing wallpaper with a wolf howling at a big magic moon.

Along the way,we`ll be using a lot of blending options,lights and shadows,selection techniques,pen tool and brushes.I hope that you`ll find it useful and inspirational.

This is how my final result looks:

For This tutorial,as background I used this image.So…let`s get started:

Load the image into Photoshop.Duplicate the layer and name it “Background clouds”(or whatever you want),deselect the first one and using the selection tool delete the bottom part of the image like in the picture:

Using the crop tool,select the rest of the image to get rid of that space from the bottom of the image.Delete the first layer(the locked one).Duplicate the “Background clouds” layer 2 times.Change the blend mode for the first to “Soft light” and for the second to “Overlay”..Now we have an image with more light and contrast.

In the bottom left of the image,add some mountains.I used a set of mountains brushes,but is just a suggestion.

Make a new layer and in the bottom-right of the image,add a wolf sitting on a rock mountain.You can download the brush from here.

Now we`re gonna make the rock of the wolf to become real.Download this rock image and paste it into Photoshop.

Duplicate the layer of the image,select the “Selection tool”,right click on image and “Load selection”.Ctrl+C to copy and paste it in our project.

Put the layer under the wolf layer.Transform the scale of the image to look like this:

Using the pen tool,make the selection of the exterior rock and delete it,like in the image:

Increase the height of the canvas(Image->Canvas size) to see if you have any rock under the image.If you have,get rid of it.

Now put the layer with the rock above the wolf layer.Now you have a rock mountain.Set the opacity of the layer to 30% and duplicate it.

Set the opacity of the new layer to 100%.

Go to Filter->Render->Lightning effects and apply the next settings for the rock layer:

Now make a mask to this layer(Layer->Layer Mask->Reveal all),set the foreground color to #d2d2d2,and with the Airbrush Soft Round make more light to the rock,like in the image:

Duplicate this layer and set the blending mode for the new layer to Soft light.Merge those 2 layers.You may set the opacity to 70-80% to make the rock a little bit darker.

Now add the next outer glow effect:

Our image looks like this:

Using the pen tool,make the selection to the wolf,copy the selection and paste it into a new layer.

To this layer,add the next blending options:

Outer glow:

Color overlay

We have now a wolf a bit more darken.

In a new layer,with “Airbrush Soft Round 200″ ,hardness 0% make some shadows on the margins of the rock and set the Fill layer to 40-45%.

I`ve found some Planet Brushes and Star Brushes at DeviantArt.Add them to your picture.This is how my picture looks:

Let`s add some lights:

Select Rectangle tool(U) and draw a stripe from top to bottom.Go to Filter->Render and add some Fibers:

Now go to Filter->Blur and add Motion Blur:

Transform it a little bit…

Go to Edit->Transform and add it some perspective like in the image below:

Rotate and put the lights into the top-right corner of the screen.Set the Fill to 60% and give the layer “Soft light” as blending option.

The last step is adjusting a little bit the image.Go to Layer->New adjustment layer->Color Balance and apply the next numbers:

We`ve finished our great wallpaper.
